Why is it when I read the news some jerk has maliciously hurt an animal or a child? Why??? A woman ran into oncoming traffic to save a puppy that a person dumped from their vehicle moments before. Why??? Is it that hard to drop the dog off at a shelter or find it a new home? Why do people not drop their unwanted babies off at safe shelters? Why do they hurt them? I’m still perplexed as to why this sort of stuff happens in our world today. Is it that difficult to do the right thing? To have compassion? If these people are OK with harming an animal that is in their trust or a child then they are probably OK with doing things to others. Animals have no voice, no choice and no way to protect themselves from us, the worst thing that has ever hit this planet. We are like a virus, destorying everything in our paths. Gee, this weed is unwanted, lets use chemicals to kill it, lets poision our eath so that neither human nor animal can sustain without disease or illness due to the chemical. I want a have it now option so lets pop a pill and lets waste becuase what I have isn’t sufficient enough. When are we going to learn what we are doing to the earth, the animals and our well being? Will the babies being born today see half of the animals we have when they are 10, 15, 20? Will the air be sustainable for their children or grand children. When we will learn that when we harm the earth and the animals we are only harming ourselves and the future generations to come? How do we even go about educating people on this and further why do these people do this … don’t they show or exhibit signs of their ill intent before they actually do something? Its hard for me to accept that we are a more civilized culture or that we are moving in a direction to embrace our relationships with the earth and the animals the exist on this planet. Especially when we still have these things happening on a daily occurance. And further why aren’t their more severe punishments for this sort of thing? A man here in Denver kills another in a road rage incident and receives five years in prision while another commits fraud and receives 50 years. Is that really just? That man that killed will probably kill again when he is out. Why are we allowing this to continue? Why do we not give a voice to those who cannot speak? ok soapbox done.
In this day and age you’d think most companies know a little to a lot about you. Like the things you buy and the the things you like. They might also know how many people are in your household…even if you have kids. My husband and I have kids but they are of the four legged kind.
The other day my husband and I were retrieving our mail and we certainly had a bit of a surprise about what this particular company knows about us. We received a letter from a company called National American Miss (“NAM”). The very first sentence of the letter states “Your daughter has been referred to me as a possible candidate who may enjoy modeling, acting, or learning stage techniques that will help empower and enable her to accomplish her future goals.” My husband looks at me, I look at him and we both busted out laughing. Unless he’s had kids that I don’t know about and I’ve had kids that I don’t know about we are clueless about what “daughter” they have been told about. But I must admit my four legged adopted daughter, who is a toy poodle with gorgeous red hair, could definitely model. I’m pretty sure they weren’t talking about the dog kind, although I found it entertaining to sign her up and see if she would win:) Seriously though, I couldn’t believe that they sent this letter without even knowing if the household really does in fact have a daughter living here. I must say, the prizes involved were cash, scholarships and a Ford Mustang convertible. I haven’t decided if I am going to “clue” in “NAM” that we are childless or not…but in this day and age it certainly makes one wonder how legit a company is if they can’t even target their audience correctly.
The “invitataion” this letter states it is providing us is for an “open call” for our daughter (LOL) to attend and meet their staff and find out how their program can acheive their modeling goals. (I still can’t help but to see our little poodle in one of those fancy dresses with her hair all done up and bows galore and not laugh). I am guessing this letter is probably legit because it has several logo’s of other very legit companies on it and unless they’ve been flying under the copywrite radar I am doubting they would use them without consent and or an agreement between the two. But really when will these companies get a clue? I guess we’ll find out won’t we :)
Being a little new to the blogging community you’ll have to forgive me for the simplicity of my start but I hope that by joining this community I will learn, teach, learn some more and make huge changes within my life and those around me. Using this medium will hopefully allow me to meet like minded individuals and expand my knowledge beyond the small realm I call Skelly’s world. I hope to touch base on topics that I know little about to topics I am passionate about. I am still a bit new to tumblr. so any suggestions are greatly appreciated :)
